From Recreational Flyer to Commercial Pilot

Whether you want to fill your days flying for the pure joy of it, or you plan to fast track to a career in aviation, Sea Eagle Aviation can help get you to your goals. The Recreational Pilot Permit allows you to take a passenger to the air in non-high performance single engine light aircraft, anywhere in Canada. As a Private Pilot you can carry as many passengers as your plane allows, anywhere in the world; that includes the ability to upgrade to multi-engined machines, adding your night rating and Instrument ratings as you progress. As a commercial pilot, there are a vast variety of exciting jobs in the field of aviation. Regardless of whether you begin your flying adventure with the recreational permit or the private pilot license, the hours you spend in the air can be counted in upgrading your license.

Recreational Pilot permit(RPP)

Recreational Pilot Permit

If you're looking to start your aviation dream, start with a Canadian Recreational Pilot Permit (RPP). This permit will allow you to carry a single passenger, fly anywhere in Canada during daylight hours, and fly an airplane up to four seats. Start your dream today, and get in the air with a Recreational Pilot Permit.


Requirements


  • 16 years of age (solo at 14 during flight training)
  • Read, speak, and understand the English language
  • Hold a minimum of a Category 4 medical 
  • Receive 25 hours flight time, including 15 hours dual and 5 hours solo   practice
  • A minimum of 60% on the Transport Canada Recreational Pilot written exam.

PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE (PPL)

Private Pilot Licence

The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the best way to get yourself,  friends and family in the air. With a blanket rated license for all non high performance single engine aircraft, the aircraft options in which you can fly are endless.  Once the PPL is obtained it allows you to add ratings onto your license, such as; multi engine, instrument rating, night rating, sea plane rating, and even high performance aircraft, such as business jets.


Requirements


  • 17 years of age
  • Category 1 or 3 medical completed by a Transport Canada medical examiner
  • 40 hours of Private Pilot Ground school
  • Minimum of 45 hours total flight training, 17 hours of dual instruction, 12 hours solo flight practice
  • A minimum of 60% on the Transport Canada Private Pilot exam.

COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE (CPL)

Commercial Pilot Licence

If you're Interested in pursuing a career in aviation and making money for doing what  you love, the Commercial Pilot License is the next step for you. By obtaining this license you would be able to fly for hire and earn a living flying  commercial aircraft of all types.


Requirements


  • Valid Private Pilot License
  •  18 years of age
  • Category 1 medical completed by a Transport Canada medical examiner
  • 80 hours of commercial pilot ground school
  • Minimum of 200 hours total flight time, 100 hours pilot in command, including 20 hours cross country. 
    • 5 hours night, including a minimum of 2 hours of cross-country flight time
    • 20 hours of dual instrument flight time
    • 10 additional hours of dual instruction
    • 30 hours solo flight time
    • 300 nm straight line cross country
  • A minimum of 60% on the  Transport Canada Commercial Pilot exam.

Night Rating

Night Rating

The night rating will allow you to expand your flying experience past the restrictions of daylight hours. With calmer air and less air traffic, the night is a great time to fly.



Requirements


  •  10 hours of night flight time including a minimum of:
    • 5 hours dual flight time, including 2 hours of cross-country flight time,
    •  5 hours solo flight time, including 10 takeoffs, circuits and landings, and
  • 10 hours dual instrument time.

Visual Flight Rules Over The Top Rating (VFR OTT)

Visual Flight Rules Over The Top Rating

The VFR OTT rating allows you to fly high above the cloud layer without reference of the ground. Experience the beauty of flying in all new way and all the practical benefits that comes with the VFR OTT rating.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 hours dual instrument time, in which 5 can come from ppl and 5 from your night rating
  • A strong knowledge of meteorology and navigation related VFR over the top flying
