General aviation is very safe. In Canada, aircraft are held to strict inspection schedules, and Canadian pilots are well trained, conscientious individuals. During flight training, your personal safety is held to the highest standards, and our operations are continually monitored by Transport Canada Aviation inspectors.
Sea Eagle Aviation offers a one-time Discovery Flight for 1/2 hour with an instructor. Try your hand at straight and level and gentle turns, and get a feel for flying before making the decision to continue! $175 plus HST. And you can bring along a friend or two!!
Sea Eagle Aviation offers three levels of flight training: Recreational Pilot, Private Pilot, and Commercial Pilot. We also offer training for night ratings and VFR-OTT, which allows pilots to fly visually over cloud. For more details, click here.
Student Airplane Pilots can begin flight training at age 14. A Recreational Permit can be issued by age 16. Private Pilot licence at age 17, Commercial Pilot Licence at age 18.
No! You can train in the aircraft as you study for your written exam. You will be required to have completed at least 10 hours flight training for your Recreational Permit or Private Licence before being admitted for the written Private Pilot or Recreational Pilot Exam. With the successfully completed Written Exam, and Flight Test, along with other associated documentation, you will be issued your Licence.
If you can add, subtract, divide and multiply, that's all you need to worry about. Calculators are allowed during written exams!
Depending on your rating or licence, the sky is the limit for you. The Recreational Pilot Permit allows the pilot to carry one passenger within the borders of Canada. A pilot holding a Private Pilot Licence can fly anywhere in the world, in single and multi-engine (if rated) aircraft. Private pilots can upgrade their skills, adding their multi-engine, night, and Instrument ratings. Private Pilots can also upgrade to high performance aircraft and even jets. Commercial Pilots can find themselves crop dusting, performing aerial surveys, dropping parachutists, banner towing, training other pilots, and carrying passengers for charters and airlines. Flying is an amazing career!
The length of time to get your licence or rating depends on the license, your time commitments, study ethic, and the weather. Typically, a Recreational Pilot Permit, Pilot Licence, or Commercial Licence can be completed individually within 6 months, but if approached systematically, in as little as three months. To see where you may fit in the training scheme for your licence or rating, contact us for a one-on-one meeting!
At Sea Eagle Aviation, your flight training happens on your own schedule. While our ground school classes follow a fixed schedule, (typically one evening per week for three hours) flight training in our aircraft happens at your own pace; be it several flights per week, a few a month, or as your availability allows.
For lesson scheduling, we use an online scheduling tool called Flight Schedule Pro, which puts the power of booking your lessons in your own hands! Once you are enrolled in the school, login information will be emailed to you so you can book your lessons.
Your training costs vary depending on the licence or rating, your time commitments, and other factors. For an estimate of training costs, visit our RATES AND TRAINING COSTS page.
No. Each flight lesson is billed at the end of the flight. We understand that learning to fly is a significant expense, that's why the pay-as-you-go model is best suited for flight training with us. While some larger flight training schools and colleges offer fixed fee options, the fine print reveals the reality of aviation education, with minimum flights per month, penalties, and other accommodations and caveats. For some learners that can significantly impact finances. We like to keep it simple at Sea Eagle Aviation. Instruction and learning comprehension is continually monitored. While training benchmarks are employed to ensure you are on track for your learning goals.
